Stanford GSE graduates are highly sought after for positions in a wide range of industries and education settings in the U.S. and around the world. Our graduates exercise leadership in public, private and non-profit sectors, including schools, governments, ed tech organizations, philanthropy, and more.
Each year, Stanford GSE EdCareers gathers data about graduating students and publishes a profile of the class and their career plans.
The Class of 2023* included a total of 170 graduate students – 32 doctoral and 138 master’s students. We know the employment status** of 94% of these graduates.
In addition, 28 Stanford undergraduates completed an education minor or honors.
*Includes students who conferred their degrees between Autumn Quarter 2022 and Summer Quarter 2023. EdCareers relies on the NACE First Destination Survey protocol with a few customizations that better align with our programs and calendar.

We know the employment status of 97% of the 32 PhD graduates who completed their degrees in 2022-23.
These included graduates from the Curriculum and Teacher Education (CTE), Developmental and Psychological Sciences (DAPS), and Social Sciences, Humanities, and Interdisciplinary Policy Studies in Education (SHIPS). Students who participated in cross-area specializations of Learning Sciences and Technology Design (LSTD) and Race, Inequality, and Language in Education (RILE) are represented in their primary programs of study (DAPS, CTE, or SHIPS).
